Alternative Treatments for Knee Pain in Sarasota

Non-surgical help for torn meniscus, cartilage damage and arthritis, from the doctor who healed his own knee.

Many adults will have knee pain at some point. Conventional care offers pain medication, injections and surgery. If you want another option, Dr. House has more than two decades of experience helping patients with knee pain naturally.

He knows what it is like to be the patient. After a ski accident tore his ACL and meniscus, a surgeon friend repaired the ACL and performed a meniscectomy, cutting out the torn part of the meniscus. Six months later, Dr. House could not walk up and down stairs. He told the surgeon his knee was worse. "Isn't that like cutting the cushion out of your couch?" The surgeon admitted that was exactly right, and that it was "just procedure," how he was taught.

That is when Dr. House created Prolopuncture and treated his own knee. He felt better after the 8th treatment and was fully healed after 10.

What Prolopuncture Does

Prolotherapy already existed. Dr. House created a protocol that places the injections only at acupuncture points, using dextrose to stimulate the growth of new fibrous tissue in the joint. "Prolo" stands for proliferation. It is the protocol he developed and named himself.

What Treatment Looks Like

  • A typical course is 10 to 12 treatments, spaced every 2 to 3 days
  • Injections at the "two eyes of the knee" and other acupuncture points
  • Reduced activity during the course, ice for the first 24 hours, then heat
  • A 6-month Rehab Assignment, with stretching and a non-mucus-forming diet
  • Full healing takes time, often 6 months to a year, like a pro athlete's injury report
